A Lanarkshire MSP has congratulated local youngsters celebrating impressive exam results this week.
It comes as pupils across the area achieved some of the best grades ever yesterday (Tuesday, August 9).
Teachers have already applauded their hard-working students' efforts as they look ahead to the new term.
Also celebrating this week's results in Lanarkshire is Central Scotland MSP Monica Lennon who says she's proud of everyone continuing to achieve fantastic grades despite the challenges of Covid in recent years.
The Scottish Labour and Cooperative representative said: "Congratulations to all learners across Lanarkshire on their achievements.
“Results day is always an emotional rollercoaster but having to study and sit exams during a global pandemic has been hugely challenging for pupils.
“I am really proud of all the young people in Lanarkshire for putting in the work, often while volunteering in the community and going the extra mile to support others.
“A special thanks must go on record to all the teachers and school staff who have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to maintain education services.
“These results are the product of a huge team effort, including the invaluable support from families and carers. I wish all students well, whether they are continuing their education, embarking on an exciting apprenticeship, or entering the world of work.”
Attainment has risen across North Lanarkshire against most of the key measures when comparing this year’s results with 2019’s attainment figures, the last set of results before Covid.
