Airdrie's MSP is joining the search to find a popular soft play centre a new home.
Lanarkshire Live reported yesterday that the Chapelhall-based DinoM8 softplay centre and adjoining Gravit8 trampoline park will close to customers indefinitely after this weekend.
DinoM8 is having to relocate following the sale of its current premises, but suitable sites are few and far between, so Neil Gray MSP is calling on local landlords to see if they may have somewhere lurking at the back of their portfolios which may fit the bill.
The business is looking for somewhere from 10,000 sq ft upwards but due to the unit requiring a leisure zoning rather than an industrial one, the right place is proving elusive.
Mr Gray told Lanarkshire Live : “I was contacted by the owner of DinoM8, Debbie Park, to see if I could help them in their search for new premises.
“I have written to Scottish Enterprise to see what kind of assistance they could offer, but there must be a building out there that is suitable.
"I understand that some landlords may be reluctant to change the zoning for a unit but surely a small expense at the start and a unit paying its way is better than one sitting empty?
“I would be a huge loss to the local economy if such a popular facility such as DinoM8 was to shut its doors for good.
"We need to do all we can to make sure that Airdrie continues to have good, safe local play centres available for children.
“If anyone knows of a suitable unit please get in touch with either myself or DinoM8.”
