A Lanarkshire MP gave her support to an event in the House of Commons to highlight the important work of Guide Dogs for the Blind.
East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow MP, Dr Lisa Cameron, met service users and their guide dogs recently.
Guide Dogs Scotland is there to make sure when someone loses their sight they don’t lose their freedom as well.
In Scotland the Glasgow, Edinburgh and Forfar teams provide life-changing mobility services to adults, children and young people with sight loss throughout Scotland.
Meanwhile, the latest pupil census figures published last month - show the total number of pupils in Scotland with a visual impairment for 2021 was 4,930 - up from 2,593 in 2011, an increase of 90 per cent placing unprecedented demand on charities such as Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Such demands on the charity places pressure on its mission to provide support to ensure that those who are blind or partially sighted enjoy the same freedom of movement as everyone else.
Ms Cameron said: “I was overwhelmed to meet with service users and guide dogs to give my full support to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association campaign in Parliament in my capacity as chair of the Disability All Party Parliamentary Group.
"They do fabulous work and I will continue to link with them locally and nationally."
