A man set fire to his car after an angry confrontation with his mum, sister and ex-partner.
Hamilton Sheriff Court heard this week that the women had to restrain Stephen Boyd on a couch after violence flared.
Boyd, 38, of Bothwell Street, Hamilton, admitted throwing water over his sister and hitting her on the head with a cup.
He also admitted spitting at his ex-partner, driving while unfit through drink or drugs and culpably and recklessly setting fire to his car to the danger of others.
The women were at Boyd's mum's flat in Hamilton, on February 28 last year.
Jennifer McCabe, prosecuting, said: "About 5pm the accused arrived unannounced.
"He appeared to be under the influence and began to argue with his ex-partner about drug taking.
"He got hold of a cup of water, threw the contents in his sister's face and struck her with the cup on the side of the head.
"She pushed him on to the couch and all parties restrained him. Boyd then walked towards his ex and spat in her direction.
"His mother told him to leave and he drove away. The police arrived and they detained him when he returned about 6.50pm.
"At that time officers became aware that a vehicle was on fire and Boyd admitted he'd done it."
Defence agent Jackson Bateman said his client has mental health issues and produced a psychiatric report for Sheriff John Speir to consider before sentencing.
The sheriff imposed a community payback order as an alternative to a prison sentence.
Boyd will be under social work supervision and must do unpaid community work.
He will also be curfewed under an electronic tagging order and has been banned from driving for a year.
