A Lanarkshire man is set to appear on the new series of hit television show The Great British Bake Off.
Taking to our screens once again this month, a new batch of amateur bakers will head to the famous tent where they’ll be battling it out for the coveted Bake Off title.
And music teacher Kevin, from Lanarkshire, is hoping he can make a good impression to be crowned the UK’s best amateur baker.
The 33-year-old has an ethos when working in the kitchen to 'use the best, seasonal ingredients and to spend time refining technique' – with these in hand, he believes the presentation will take care of itself.
His creativity also doesn’t end in the flair of his baking skills, as he performs regularly as a saxophonist.
Kevin will compete against 11 other bakers, in front of judges Paul Hollywood and Dame Prue Leith.
Presenters Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding also return to the tent to host the show.
The other bakers Kevin will compete against are:
- Carol, 59, a supermarket cashier from Dorset
- Maisam, 18, a student and sales assistant from Greater Manchester
- Maxy, 29, an architectural assistant from London
- Sandro, 30, a nanny from London
- Syabira, 32, a cardiovascular research associate from London
- Dawn, 60, an IT manager from Bedfordshire
- James, 25, a nuclear scientist from Cumbria
- Janusz, 34, a personal assistant from East Sussex
- Rebs, 23, a masters student from County Antrim
- Will, 45, a former charity director from London
- Abdul, 29, an electronics engineer from London
This year’s series will kick off with a total of 12 contestants, who, after 10 weeks of fierce competition, will be whittled down to just three talented bakers.
The Great British Bake Off returns to Channel 4 on Tuesday, September 13 at 8pm.
