Lanarkshire locals are being encouraged to shake off the winter blues with free health walks throughout the area.
The winter months can often feel like a struggle, but organisers believe the free health walks, taking place in Cambuslang and Rutherglen, can make a difference.
A spokesman for the Get Walking Lanarkshire group said: "They are a great way to beat the winter blues, catch some much-needed day light and meet friendly folk whilst getting some gentle exercise done as well.
"Being outside helps to boost your mood and spotting the early signs of spring is really uplifting. Also, at the moment the safest way to meet others is outdoors.
"All the more reason to give the walks a go.
"Health walks are easy, last no longer than an hour and go at a gentle pace. Most groups go for a cuppa after the walk. Please wear suitable footwear and dress for the weather conditions on the day.
"At Fernbrae Meadows in Rutherglen there is a health walk from the bottom of Fernbrae Avenue/ Fernhill Road at 9.30am on Tuesdays and a buggy walk from the car park of Fernbrae Meadows at 10.00am on Fridays.
"There is also a health walk from Morrisons in Cambuslang at 9.30am on Fridays."
Please book for your first walk by contacting Get Walking Lanarkshire on 07903 358 424 or by emailing getwalkinglanarkshire@northlan.gov.uk for more information.
