Youngsters from Airdrie-based Lanarkshire Karate Academy claimed a huge medal haul from their trip to Belfast recently.
Members were competing at the North South Open Karate Championships and every one of their 23 competitors picked up at least one medal for their efforts.

Tyler Gibson: 3x Gold; Heather Mackay: 3x Gold ; Daniel McPake: 2x Gold; Sebastian Magilton: 2x Gold, 2x Silver ; Emmie McEwan: 2x Gold, 2x Silver; Alix Smith: 2x Gold 1x Silver; Reece Taylor: 2x Gold, 1x Bronze; Luke Ryder: 1x Gold, 3x Silver ; Ziva Alexander:1x Goldy,1x Silver; Austin Docherty: 1x Gold, 1x Silver ; Alyesha Mattewal: 1x Gold, 1x Bronze ; Dominic Griniuk: 1x Gold.

LKA Sensei Chantelle Allan was thrilled with her students’ and said: “I’m super proud of each and every squad member, not only for the performances on the day but in the weeks leading up to this event.
“Lots of hard preparation was put in and on and off the mats they were all exceptional.
“I’d also thank you to all of our supportive parents who travelled and cheered the team on. The team spirit was unreal, as always.
“It was amazing being back in this environment, enjoying the buzz of competition. We now move onto the next one, with a busy year of travelling and competing ahead.”
