Lanarkshire hypnotist dubbed the new Derren Brown takes world by storm

A Lanarkshire lad dubbed as Scotland's answer to Derren Brown has taken his success Stateside as well as helping youngsters closer to home.

Back in 2020 the East Kilbride News previously told how Fraser Penman - aka The Albino Hypnotist - overcame bullying at both primary and secondary school for “being different” but was fast making a name for himself.

The EK sensation lacked self-esteem growing up but he turned that difference into a positive to follow his passion.

Fraser, from Gardenhall, has the condition Albinism – a congenital disorder characterised in humans by the complete or partial absence of pigment in the skin, hair and eyes.

But he has taken the world by storm these past two years, on TV and all media platforms and has now hit headlines in the USA where he was a keynote speaker at the Heartlands Hypnosis Conference in Missouri as well as doing a sell-out tour.

Now back in Scotland, Fraser’s old maths teacher had followed his journey and as a lecturer at Ayrshire College, invited him to present and share his expertise to staff and students at the college.

Fraser told Lanarkshire Live: "As a qualified clinical hypnotherapist, I delivered a keynote presentation to the students and staff, sharing my background and story, inspiring them with successes to date.

"With overwhelmingly positive feedback the students said it was a presentation like no other.

"Using three simple psychological techniques, coupled with a takeaway toolkit, I wanted to empower the students to be able to deal with exam anxiety and achieve their goals, whilst breaking down the myths of hypnosis."

Fraser then amazed students by hypnotising their lecturers in front of their very eyes.

Speaking about his road to success Fraser said: "Despite the challenges I faced over the years, both physically and mentally as a result of the bullying, I have always wanted to help others.

“As a youngster I enjoyed performing, from putting on shows in my parents’ front room as a gregarious five-year-old, to playing leading roles in my local drama group, having been persuaded to join by my mum.”

Fraser added: “I spent many hours, days and weeks researching, studying, completing courses and being mentored by highly knowledgeable and experienced practitioners as far afield as the USA.

"I believe in the power of hypnosis, in particular, self-hypnosis, which I have personally experienced and it has had a significant impact on my ability to overcome my own personal challenges from the past.”

This is why there's a real buzz for Fraser’s next show in Glasgow on Friday, October 28, in Arta, Merchant City.

He will leave you in absolute awe as he delivers his unforgettable, highly entertaining 'A Night of The Mind' stage show and all its wonders.

A hilarious, family friendly evening of psychological techniques, mentalism and hypnosis where you will be mesmerised as he reads your mind and you, your friends or family can become the stars of the show.
