Rutherglen Health Centre and several local businesses have donated hundreds of pounds worth of items for Ukraine.
The practice manager, who lives in Clydebank, saw her local church was asking for donations and began to ask around in her work.
She told Lanarkshire Live: “I asked for baby donations and toiletries for Ukraine refugees in Poland as my local church is making baby boxes.
“I sent an email appealing for items for the baby boxes for things like nappies, snowsuits, cardigans, and a lot of other stuff.
“We phoned some of the local pharmacies and they were coming around with boxes full of stuff.
“Our pharmacy gave me £100 to buy stuff, so a few of us went to Home Bargains and bought stuff from the baby list.
“It was so nice to do and people feel so helpless and want to do something, it’s been so nice.
“People don’t always have a lot of money, especially coming out of Covid and it’s nice to just have people turning up with something like a pack of nappies, everything counts.
“The amount donated is unreal. I would like to thank Rutherglen businesses and the health staff for their generous donations.”
Several pharmacies such as McLeans, Burnside, Burns, Miller McGowan, and the staff from Lloyds Drumsgard donated items.
GPs from Overtourn Medical Practice, staff from Eastvale Resource Centre Treatment Room and Wardlaw Medical Practice have also contributed.
The practice manager added: “My car was full to the brim when I was driving home the other night. We planned to drop it off at the Church, but one of the ladies came and picked it up and we jammed it all into the car.”
Dalmuir Barclay Church in Clydebank has currently had to pause donations due to the large amount they’ve received over the last week.
