Lanarkshire gym wins Scottish Gym of the Year in prestigious fitness awards

A Lanarkshire personal trainer who only opened her gym last year has scooped a top gong at the Scottish Health and Fitness Awards.

Audrey Beljaflah says she was in shock when her gym A2B Fitness was named Scottish Gym of the Year 2022 at the glamourous awards ceremony at the Hilton Glasgow.

The 37-year-old from Hamilton paid tribute to her "amazing" clients who have backed her all the way in achieving so much in such a short period of time.

Ten of those clients joined Audrey at her table on the night as they celebrated their success.

Audrey told Lanarkshire Live : "It took ages to sink in, it was crazy.

"I am really delighted as that's the award I wanted to get for the clients.

"It was a great night. The organisers did so well to have it greatly ran.

"To be honest when I won the award the overwhelming feeling was realising how far we've came in such a short space of time, and I genuinely don't think I had realised that.

"It took me a while to digest that but now we are Scottish Gym of the Year."

In April, we told you how the Hamilton community had got behind Audrey as the voting for the awards opened.

Many locals showed their support, leading to the PT nominated for three awards in total, including one recognising the gym's charitable efforts.

Audrey has not only dedicated the past year to the wellbeing of her clients, but has also led inspiring fundraising drives for Blameless Charity, raising approximately £4000 for the cause.

Since the awards at the end of June, Audrey has seen many more locals get in touch to join her gym.

"July is usually a quiet month for the gym", she explained. "But we've already had more sign-ups for the boot camps and more PT clients so I'm assuming it's on the back of the awards, so hopefully that continues.

"On the night I was in shock, but then the realisation was I deserve it because I do work hard, and I always just make sure I put my clients first. As I always say it's always for them. They're my community, it's their gym. So it was one for them."

Looking ahead, A2B is looking to expand and bring more coaches on board with the gym getting busier, and help as many people in the community as possible.

Audrey will also be hosting her own awards ceremony at the gym on September 3 where Blameless Charity will be in attendance. All clients at the gym will be able to celebrate together on the night and highlight the good work of the charity.

Audrey has worked as a personal trainer for the past three years but only opened her gym, A2B Fitness, based in Blantyre Industrial Estate, in September 2021.
