Lanarkshire great grandmother is this week’s 'Say it With Flowers' recipient

Great grandmother Catherine Gold has been praised for her “selfless love and support” by her loving granddaughter, Louise.

And that saw the Wishaw stalwart presented with our ‘Say it With Flowers’ bouquet this week.

Caring Catherine has devoted her life to supporting her two children, John and Andrea; five grandchildren, Louise, Christopher, Lauren, Marcus and Lucy; and four great grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan, Carson and Nico.

And as well as providing her loving support to her extended family, the 73-year-old worked as a manager in the former Spar retail store in the village of Newmains before retiring.

She is a rock of support to her family and always goes “above and beyond” to help them whenever she can.

Mum-of-four Louise told Lanarkshire Live : “My gran has always been there for me growing up and still is now.

“My boys love her to bits and she deserves so much more than flowers, but I thought that this might make her smile.

“My gran would give anybody her last. She is very family orientated and she would help you in a heartbeat.”

And when Louise told us about her wonderful grandmother, we were delighted to be able to help, surprising her with this beautiful floral display, courtesy of our friends at Pixies Petals in Newmains.

Louise told us: “My gran has always been there for me and my boys and I thought it would be nice to give her something back.

“I think she will be really surprised, but she will be delighted too because she loves flowers.”

And on receiving the flowers a shocked Catherine told us: “It was such a nice surprise and I want to thank Louise for thinking of me, and to the Wishaw Press for nominating me for the competition.”
