South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture’s annual fun run series is back in several Rutherglen and Cambuslang parks over the next month.
The team have worked in association with the Landemer community and Cambuslang and Rutherglen Sports Council to deliver the events.
The fun series, which has been renamed the Ian Duncan Fun Run as a mark of respect to a volunteer with the Landemer Committee who sadly passed away last year, is free for all nursery to P7 pupils and parents/carers who want to participate.
Kay Morrison, general manager of SLLC, said: “The team are looking forward to giving the local children and families the opportunity to re-engage with physical activity after two-and-a-half years of restrictions.
“It is great to be able to honour the contribution Ian Duncan made to the local community and the respect in which he is held, and these fun runs are a fitting way to be able to do so.
“They have always been popular with all those who have taken part and we hope that everyone is looking forward to them this year – we certainly are!”
The Ian Duncan Fun Run series is taking place on:
Thursday, May 19 – Park View, New Road, Cambuslang, Glasgow G72 7PU (beside View Park).
Thursday, May 26 – Cambuslang Park, Cairns Rd, Cambuslang, Glasgow G72 8PZ (meet at the MUGA sports area – basketball court).
Thursday, June 9 – Overtoun Park, Mill Street, Rutherglen (just beside the Kings Park hotel – meet at bandstand).
