Lanarkshire football club granted £300 from the council

Councillors have this week granted funding to a Lanarkshire-based football club.

Third Lanark Football Academy 2007, a community based football team playing out of the Cambuslang/Rutherglen area, were awarded a grant of £300 to help buy new equipment.

South Lanarkshire Councillors agreed to grant the cash at the Cambuslang and Rutherglen area committee meeting yesterday (August 10) as part of the community grants scheme.

The scheme is set up to fund activities and projects that bring community benefit and to involve people in the community by bringing them together to enjoy educational, recreational, leisure and other community activities to improve the local area.

Support can be provided for a range of activities including administration and publicity costs, annual outings and entrance fees, equipment and materials, start-up costs and special events.

Grants are available for groups in each area of South Lanarkshire including Cambuslang and Rutherglen as well as Hamilton, Clydesdale and East Kilbride.

The total allocation for community grants for the Cambuslang and Rutherglen area for the year 2022 to 2023 was £25,750, the remaining balance is £18,550.
