Lanarkshire flower group are ready for planting season

A flower group are gearing up for their annual plant-out.

Linda Wallace, the chairwoman of Cambuslang in Bloom, is looking for volunteers to join the team for the annual event.

She was recently honoured with a South Lanarkshire Council Provost Community Award for her work with the group.

And Linda told Lanarkshire Live : “It’s that time of year again and the Cambuslang Bloom volunteer group is ready for the big plant.

“If you would like to get involved and find out how you can help or have some fun and company then please get in touch.

"No experience with plants is required.”

Cambuslang in Bloom was created in 2015 in partnership with Cambuslang Community Council and since then it has grown from strength to strength.

Linda added: “We do a big plant out every year on the first weekend in June, some of the elective members come along and it’s a fun thing to do and we have a great turnout.

“We also have people from care homes around and they help us with the care of the plants.

“It’s always a great day.”

Linda and the volunteers look after the plants from the initial plant-out in June, right through to October and can be seen all around Cambuslang main street.

The plant-out is happening on Saturday, June 4, and for anyone interested in volunteering they can contact Linda Wallace.
