A Lanarkshire eSports group is celebrating the success of their first schools tournament.
Wishaw-based 'The Brave JNR' was started in 2019 and host classes and tournaments for aspiring gamers.
Founder Emma Williamson was inspired to start the group after seeing how much her own daughter enjoyed gaming and seeing the benefits of eSports firsthand.
And they have just wrapped up their first tournament, having played the Future Fridays Esports Championships , in which 44 teams across 12 schools in North Lanarkshire.
Teams played two games, Fortnite and Rocket League, and competed over the course of four weeks.
Emma told Lanarkshire Live : "The whole thing was such a success and the schools were so helpful and supportive.
"The games were held on a Friday afternoon over the course of four weeks and were also streamed online so that other pupils could watch their friends competing.
"Most of the schools didn't have adequate gaming facilities so pupils would go home to their own setups to take part in the tournament.
"This is the first time eSports has been used like this in North Lanarkshire schools and it was such a success."
The winning team of the Fortnite competition was Coltness High School's 'Gaming Gang', which consisted of Joshua Ogilvie, Mark Bett and Adam Stapleton.
And the winner of the Rocket League tournament was Brannock High’s team 'Concordia', which consisted of Alexander Lambie, Ben Deavy and Liam McMahon.
The tournament was sponsored by gaming equipment company HyperX which provided headsets for the winners. The winning schools also received a trophy for their triumphs.
Emma said: "With the tournament being such a success, I would love to make it an annual event.
"I'm looking at getting some more sponsors and maybe more games on offer so that more people will want to take part.
"I want to really thank the schools and the teachers who volunteered their time to help make it so fun."
