Schools across Lanarkshire remain open this morning as the region braces itself for the arrival of Storm Eunice.
Both North and South Lanarkshire Councils have treated primary and secondary routes ahead of the forecast winter weather, following heavy snowfall overnight.
A Met Office yellow warning has been issued for snow across the county and commuters are being asked to be prepared for possible disruption and to check travel and weather updates before any journey.
Two red warnings have been issued elsewhere in the UK.
Currently, there are no major disruptions on the main routes of the M74, M73, M8 and M80. Although Overton Road, between Netherburn Village and the A72, is currently closed due to a fallen tree.
Drivers are also being reminded to take blankets , water and food in your car and check oil and petrol levels before you head off on journeys.
A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Storm Eunice may cause disruption due to heavy snow and some strong winds on Friday.
" There is a chance of travel delays on roads, possibly with stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.
"There is a slight chance that some rural communities could be temporarily cut off and there is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected."
ScotRail have urged commuters to take care when travelling today and to check ahead for any disruption to journeys.
Posting on their social media platforms: "Due to low temperatures overnight, black ice conditions are possible this morning, our teams will be out gritting or salting as required.
"Please travel with care.
"We don’t expect #StormEunice to have the same impact here as #StormDudley. There are some minor alterations in place as we plan ahead for #StormEunice. If you’re travelling over the next 48hrs, download our app and check your journey."
