Lanarkshire emergency services take part in LGBTI equality event

Emergency services from across Lanarkshire took part in an event regarding LGBTI equality.

PC Laura Daly, Lanarkshire’s representative for the Scottish LGBTI Police Association, hosted a multi-agency event at Motherwell fire station.

Laura’s aim was to open channels of discussion around equality, diversity, inclusion and how to encourage allies to champion diversity both in the workplace and in the wider community.

Partnerships Superintendent, Andy Thomson, said “It was great to see officers, emergency service partners and other organisations come together to discuss equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

“Individually and collectively we have an opportunity to lead change to improve the experiences of our communities, including our own officers and staff.

"Discrimination of any kind is utterly deplorable and unacceptable, it has no place in society and no place in policing.

“Being part of Police Scotland means upholding our values, advocating for diversity of thought and truly representing the communities we serve.”

Other agencies represented included Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Victim Support Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service, British Transport Police and both North and South Lanarkshire Councils.
