Lanarkshire early years worker is this week’s ‘Say it With Flowers’ recipient

A selfless and generous early years worker is this week's ‘Say it With Flowers’ recipient.

Tracy Coll Higham, from Wishaw, was nominated for the award by her best friend, Sharon McLauchlan, who said she is a great help for many in her local community.

Sharon praised Tracy's selflessness and generosity to charity, calling her "an inspiration with a heart of gold," who iss "always there" for both her friends and family.

Craigneuk resident, Sharon, told Lanarkshire Live : “I have known Tracy for about 40 years; she is one of my best friends.

“She goes above and beyond for others and she is so selfless.

“She collects and brings in things for the Baby Bank Scotland charity and she is always collecting for the homeless and families in need.

“She does a lot for the local community and she is always the first to be at your door to make sure you are OK.”

The 42-year-old mum-of-two lives in Netherton with her husband Gary, and she has two grown up daughters, Sinead and Saoirse.

As well as her tireless dedication to helping local charities and her community, she works as an early years worker in Netherton nursery.

And when Sharon told us about Tracy, we were only too pleased to help, surprising her with a stunning floral arrangement, courtesy of our friends at Pixies Petals in Newmains.

“I think she will be embarrassed. She doesn’t like to be recognised. She has done this for years and years, but she doesn’t get the recognition that she deserves,” Sharon told us.

And on receiving the flowers Tracy told us: “I’m overwhelmed. That was really nice of her to think of me. It was very kind and I would like to thank Sharon for nominating me and to the Wishaw Press for organising the competition.”
