Lanarkshire drug dealer warned he faces another prison stretch over Parcelforce racket

Table tops stuffed with cannabis were found in parcels linked to a convicted drug dealer.

A court heard police seized 24kg of cannabis worth £100,000 after customs officials tipped them off about suspect packages.

They were being delivered by Parcelforce delivery teams when they were seized.

Drew Southall, 27, of Carfin, admitted being concerned in the supply of the drug in May 2020.

Border Force officials told police packages destined for four addresses in Motherwell and Glasgow were believed to contain illicit substances.

Prosecutor Chloe O’Hara told Hamiton Sheriff Court: “Two of the packages contained table tops.

“These were unscrewed and polythene bags of cannabis were found inside.

"Officers found more cannabis at Southall’s home, along with a notebook containing the tracking numbers of the parcels sent to the other addresses.”

Southall and twin brother were jailed in 2017 over the supply of cannabis worth £55,000.

Drew Southall has also served a prison sentence for illegal possession of a taser gun.

Lawyer Paul Sweeney told the court after his latest conviction: “It’s time he grew up.”

Sheriff John Speir deferred sentence for a social work report and a tagging assessment.

He remanded Southall in custody and warned him to expect another prison stretch.
