An event was held last at Strathclyde Country Park last week to mark Clean Air Day 2023.
It was jointly staged by South and North Lanarkshire Councils on Thursday (June 15) and focussed on the impact of air pollution on mental health.
A range of promotional material focused on boosting walking and cycling and improving the air quality was on offer to those who attended.
As well as this, around 150 free bike hire tokens were distributed, with some still available to collect (114 adult and 139 child) from the water sports centre for those who couldn’t make it on the day.
The tokens, which are valid until the end of August, are worth one hour’s free bike hire and are designed to offer a taster to anyone thinking of taking up cycling for leisure or commuting.
There are a range of bikes on offer, including those adapted for a variety of needs.
Local primary school children also attended the event to take part in ‘bikeability+’ training sessions to boost their confidence in cycling proficiency from a young age.
As well as this, a treasure trail around Strathclyde Country Park and Hamilton Palace Grounds was launched to mark Clean Air Day.
Locals can follow the trail by downloading the free WALKCYCLE4AIR app and answering questions on local landmarks.
Everyone who takes part and registers on the app before August 27 will be entered into a free prize draw and five winners will receive £100 of Halfords Vouchers.
The app also contains 13 walking and cycling routes in and around the park and palace grounds.
