A Lanarkshire town is set to be the location for a new comic book - and the author is appealing for help with historical details.
John Lees is planning to set his next tale in his hometown of Rutherglen.
The Nasty will be focused around the waning days of the video nasties moral panic of the 1980s and early 90s, in which a selection of gruesome horror films such as Cannibal Holocaust and the Evil Dead were banned by the British Board of Film Classification.
John's story will mix horror and comedy as a group of teenagers in the Royal Burgh try to watch a banned tape, a decision that has unexpected consequences.
Art on the comic will come from George Kambadais.
One of the settings for the comic is a video shop in the town, and that has led John to try and find details about the video rental stores that existed in real life there.
He told Lanarkshire Live : "Monster-Dome Video, one of the central locations, is inspired by the old VideoLand that used to be located on Rutherglen Main Street - it was my original local video shop when I was a kid.
"I've done a fair bit of research, and been able to gather a lot of reference photos of 1990s Rutherglen, but there is nothing about VideoLand.
"There is almost zero reference to the place to be trawled up on Google. Certainly no images.
"It's like the place never existed, erased from history.
"I'm looking to see if anyone out there have any photos - exterior or interior - of the old VideoLand?
"Or even any memories of the place they'd like to share?"
