An East Kilbride man caught with cocaine worth more than £13,000 has avoided a prison sentence.
Kyle Gaffney, 29, of Fortieth Avenue, was instead handed a community payback order at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.
He admitted being concerned in the supply of the Class A drug at an address in Westwood Hill, East Kilbride, on March 12 last year.
The court heard police officers arrived at the house with a search warrant at 9.35am.
A quantity of powder, weighing 110g, was found in a hall cupboard.
It was found to be cocaine and was valued at £3500.
If divided into 1g deals it would have been worth between £11,000 and £13,200.
Defence agent Andy Thomson said social workers had compiled an "excellent" report on his client who was "more than happy to do community work" as an alternative to prison.
Sheriff Thomas Millar ordered Gaffney to carry out 225 hours of unpaid work within a year.
