A Lanarkshire club marked their golden anniversary recently with a celebratory lunch.
Rutherglen Probus Club was formed fifty years ago by Rutherglen Rotary Club, and fittingly the anniversary lunch was held in the Burnside Hotel which is where the club held its very first meeting back on May 11 1972.
The lunch was attended by over fifty members, their wives and guests.
The principal speaker was Robert Brown, the Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group in South Lanarkshire Council, and the entire event was ably chaired by William Goldie.
A highlight of the afternoon was the cutting of an anniversary cake by the club’s longest serving member Duncan MacInnes.
The Probus Club is for retired professional and businessmen – hence its name – and meets for lunch and talks by a guest speaker once a month in the Burnside Hotel.
The Club is happy to welcome prospective members.
