Lanarkshire church welcomes back popular Christmas tree festival

Parishioners at a Lanarkshire church are in for a tree-mendous time this weekend as a popular Christmas event returns to the area.

Cambuslang Parish Church are to hold a coffee morning, Christmas tree festival and a carol service this Saturday, December 10.

The church, on Arnott Way, will be lit up with a number of trees and locals are encouraged to get into the festive spirit.

The Christmas tree festival has been a popular regular event in Cambuslang for a number of years.

The day will start with a Christmas Carol singalong coffee morning, running from from 10am until noon where you can enjoy freshly made pancakes, toasted fruit bread and mince pies along with tea or coffee and the chance to sing traditional Christmas Carols - and don't worry, a good singing voice is not necessary.

Afterwards there is the chance to visit the Sanctuary to view all the beautiful Christmas Trees, which have decorated by local schools and church organisations. There is also the opportunity to vote for your favourite one, too.

Lastly at 3pm there will be a Community Carol Concert, to which all members of the community are invited.

Ohna Robertson, the convenor of the church's fellowship team, said: "We would love to see as many people as possible join us to get Christmas off to a great start in Cambuslang."

The tree festival itself will be open from 10am until 4pm.
