A Cambuslang church was the venue for a successful dinner that brought the community together.
Nurture Educational Multicultural Society, a non-profit educational institution, organised and hosted an Iftar dinner in honour of Ramadan earlier this month.
The Iftar event, the evening meal in which Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast, was attended by several members of the community.
Yunus Akyuz, of Nurture, told Lanarkshire Live: “We had a brilliant event. During the dinner, we highlighted the importance of differences within a community and celebrated them.
“We touched upon the celebration of diversity and its impact on world peace and we sent out our best wishes and hopes on making both our communities and the world a better place for all.

“We heard Gregor Walker talk about the Turkish community of Nurture and Janet Ross gave us a very beautiful speech about her experience in Nurture and meeting our volunteers in Cambuslang.”
The evening also included a performance from Cambuslang Music Club and guests then enjoyed a dinner after a recitation of the Athan.
Yusus added: “It was a very memorable night. Many different communities were present, all gathered in a holy period for many religions - Ramadan, Passover and Easter.
“The volunteers of the Nurture were very happy about this community Iftar dinner, and we’re hoping to host many more events with our community.”
