Roses are red, violets are blue, spread the love, because singletons deserve it too!
That's the message being shared this Valentine's Day by East Kilbride charmer Jamie Ather who, every February 14, makes it his mission to spread the love to his single friends.
And his thoughtful poems and romantic red rose deliveries have proved so popular, others are being inspired to "pay it forward" and celebrate the love with their single friends too.
Jamie told Lanarkshire Live: "For the past five years on Valentine's Day I have made a point of celebrating my single friends, trying to break the stigma that Valentine's is only for people with other halves.
"I have quite a large group of female mates so every year I’ll write a daft poem and get them a bunch of roses and leave them on my single pals’ doorsteps.
"An old manager even messaged me last year saying her daughter seen my social media posts and went out and done the same thing for her group of friends, which is what it’s all about - spreading the love!"
The 31-year-old banker revealed he is now happily coupled up for the first time since starting his selfless venture, but he still took the time to pen personalised poems and pick up posies for his annual Valentine's Day drop-offs.
And his long list of Valentine's gushed over their surprise gifts with one saying "cutie" Jamie had "made her whole week".
And, inspired after reading about his thoughtful actions on social media, one woman went out and bought 27 Valentine's cards and posted them into a local care home.
Jamie added: "I'm trying to break the idea that Valentine's is for lovey-dovey couples or husband and wives. That love can show itself in many different ways, in peoples lives.
"The love you have for your friends is still a relationship that requires just as much love and nourishment as a romantic relationship in my opinion.
"A gift in 2022 is seen as fancy hampers or gift bags of expensive pamper products. But just a simple piece of paper and few roses taped together can bring just as big a smile to peoples faces, to make them feel special on a day when, traditionally, the single were shunned!
"I hope this inspires others to get up and do the same for their friends to spread the love."
