Lanarkshire charity selling Christmas card designed by late Craigneuk girl

A Wishaw charity is selling a Christmas card designed by a brave Craigneuk girl who succumbed to a brain tumour earlier this year.

Nine-year-old Faye Taylor was diagnosed with a tumour deep in her brain stem in June.

Sadly, the Berryhill Primary pupil succumbed to her illness in August, leaving family, friends and the wider community devastated.

During her illness, budding artist Faye and her family were supported by the Les Hoey MBE DreamMaker Foundation.

And to thank the charity, mum Elaine has gifted a Christmas drawing which Faye to DreamMaker so that it can be made into this year’s Christmas card.

“When we were going through Faye’s stuff we found this drawing,” Elaine told Lanarkshire Live.

“Angela from the charity still keeps in touch with us to see how we are getting on and when I told her about the drawing she asked if the charity could use it.

The Christmas card designed by Faye Taylor is now on sale with all proceeds going to the DreamMaker Foundation (WSH])

“Les and the team were so good with Faye so it’s nice to give something back and it shows off how talented Faye was.”

Following Faye’s death, Elaine described her daughter as a ray of sunshine and her little sidekick.

Following Faye’s diagnosis, residents of Craigneuk rallied together through a fundraising page to allow her to make memories with Elaine, dad Gavin and older siblings Lewis, Jodie and Harvey.

Animal lover Faye was able to meet some of her favourites at Blair Drummond Safari Park arriving in style in a pink limousine thanks to Les Hoey’s DreamMaker Foundation.

There was also various trips across the country and even a marriage proposal to Spiderman star Tom Holland.

Skilful artist Faye even designed tattoos for her mum and dad.

Elaine added: “Faye loved drawing and also drew a rainbow which is being made into a thank you card for the charity.

“She loved rainbows. I remember saying to me that she wanted rainbows on ‘the box that sends me to heaven in’ so that’s what we did.

“She was quite the artist and designed myself and Gavin’s tattoo.

“Her memory is certainly living on.

"I’ve also been told that her old school, Berryhill Primary, is creating a memorial garden thanks to the money raised by two teachers who raised money through a 10k.”
