Lanarkshire care home to celebrate national Care Home Open Week

A Lanarkshire care home will open their doors to the local community to celebrate Care Home Open Week 2022.

The week, from June 27 to July 3, is a national event hosted by Championing Social Care and is designed to connect care homes across the UK with their local communities.

This year, Douglas View Care Home in Hamilton, which is owned by HC-One, has chosen the theme ‘Summer Celebration’ for their activities and events across the week.

Activities will be held at the welcoming purpose-built 100 bed care home which offers nursing and nursing dementia care throughout the week, culminating in a Summer Celebration event this Friday, July 1.

For between 1pm to 3pm, people are invited to their Hawaiian themed garden party with a variety of fun filled activities, entertainment, and refreshments throughout the day including entertainment from a previous X Factor contestant, a bouncy castle and petting zoo.

After having to celebrate Care Home Open Week virtually during the Covid-19 pandemic, residents and colleagues are looking forward to opening their doors once again to come together with family, friends, and the wider community.

Louise Fulton, home manager at Douglas View Care Home, said: We are really excited that we will be able to open our doors again to welcome our friends, family, and wider community to come together in a celebration of summer for Care Home Open Week 2022.

“The pandemic has been a challenging time for all of us, but the week is a chance to reconnect with our community and to invite people to learn more about our home and the important part we play in supporting older people in the local area.”

Anyone interested in getting involved with the home’s celebrations and programme of events, or if you would like to attend the Summer Celebration event on Friday, July 1, 2022, please contact their friendly Careline Team on 0333 999 8513 to find out more.
