A Lanarkshire care home really got things moving with the launch of their trishaw initiative.
Over £8000 was raised for the equipment at Rutherglen Care Home, which has been specially adapted to carry elderly and disabled passengers safely.
The trishaw also has a battery in it to assist the pilot and Merchant’s House in Glasgow, Tesco in Burnside, Co-op on Main Street and Advinia Healthcare all made donations.
And the rest was raised through fundraising in the home.
Paul Lawson, customer relations manager, told Lanarkshire Live: “There is a new linking pathway almost completed between the care home and Grow 73’s Community Gardens in Overtoun Park.
“The trishaw is going to be a regular sight in the park and the residents will be enjoying regular rides.
“The benefits to the residents are huge, this will enable them get out and about, enjoy fresh air, sunshine and meet different people.
“The goal of this project is to enhance and enrich the lives of elderly and disabled people by giving them access to the beautiful outdoors through pioneering trishaw rides.”

The project has been supported by Cycling Without Age Scotland and their CEO Christine Bell piloted the trishaw at the launch.
She said: "Well done to Paul and the team at Rutherglen for pulling this off and becoming the newest chapter in Scotland.
"This unique opportunity allows community members, care home staff and family and friends to volunteer and participate.
"To become a volunteer pilot we provide a training session followed by practice runs."
There are also volunteering opportunities to become a volunteer to accompany residents on the trishaw or to be an out-rider and provide support. Contact Paul at crm.scotland@advinia.com for more info.
