A car valeting company has done its bit to help clean up East Kilbride after a "tidal wave" of graffiti continues to blight the town.
Mobile Car Spa EK ordered special cleaning products and headed out to tackle the mindless vandalism which has been appearing in the St Leonards, Calderwood and town centre areas of the town.
Police are still trying to track down the culprit and believe one person is responsible for the unsightly mess.
Community figures, including East Kilbride councillor Joe Fagan, have slammed the wanton vandalism and police renewed their appeal to the public for help last month.
They made a plea in December when the vandal struck, but more has appeared recently.
But Mobile Car Spa EK decided to take the matter in to their own hands by trying to scrub clean some of the worst vandalism around St Leonards.
Co-owner David Torlay told Lanarkshire Live : "We saw the posts and stories about the graffiti that was appearing all over the place and decided to try and clean it up.
"We have equipment and got in special cleaning solution. It is a real mess and just makes the town look really bad.
"As a company we always try and help the community if we can and do things for charity as well.
"We manged to clean-up some of the tags in St Leonards Square, some of the bigger ones proved beyond us unfortunately.
"Hopefully, they can catch whoever is doing this soon."
Councillor Fagan previously said: "I have been inundated with complaints about graffiti, mainly in St Leonards and the town centre areas.
"It seems that a small minority are responsible for a tidal wave of graffiti in the community. The latest wave has caused real anger. It's getting out of hand."
Meanwhile Sergeant Scott Anderson said enquiries into the repeat offences "are ongoing" as cops hope to "identify a suspect".
He told us : "Graffiti can have a major impact on the local community and we understand the anger displayed by members of the public."
And South Lanarkshire Council said they are aware of the situation and have a dedicated crew to work on addressing graffiti and will be "working to remove all graffiti on council property as soon as possible".
