A café manager has said that fly tipping has had a negative impact on her business.
Yasmin Hughes is the manager of the award-winning Terrace Café in Wishaw and claims there has been an issue with rubbish being dumped for some time.
And despite her best efforts, the problem continues to persist.
Situated in the town's Belhaven Terrace, Yasmin claims the issue is putting people off using local businesses as they have to walk by the mess.
She told Lanarkshire Live : "I would argue it is worse than ever just now.
"There is literally nothing we can do either without forking out lots of money and even when we pay to get it taken away it is back within days.
"Our customers have to walk past the mess to get to our cafe, it paints such a bad picture for the town."
Other businesses affected by the mess include Transformations beauty studio and Tony Moore Hair, an award-winning hairdresser.
Yasmin thinks that a possible solution would be for everyone to come together and contribute to the upkeep of the shared land.
But this would require input from tenants of the flats and landlords, which she feels may be difficult.
She said: "I think if we all worked together we could maintain upkeep of the shared area and it would look a lot nicer, but that means getting everyone on board.
"And what would then happen if the problem continued? There would be nowhere to turn.
"I know the council is working to try and get some new laws in place to give them more rights but right now the rubbish and mess is just a joke."
