Lanarkshire bus services halted due to spate of stone-throwing incidents by youths

Police in Renfrewshire are appealing for information following a spate of vandalisms to service buses operating in the Elderslie area.

There have been several incidents of youths throwing stones at buses since Friday (February 11), resulting in restrictions to services between Linwood Toll and Johnstone town centre from 7pm to midnight.

Sergeant Singh from the Johnstone Community Policing team said: “This type of behaviour is dangerous and reckless and could cause injury to those travelling on the bus.

"We anticipate that the withdrawal of bus services will cause disruption to the Community and are working closely with our partners to identify the persons responsible.

"Officers and Community Wardens will be providing additional patrols in this area and we are asking the public to help us identify the persons responsible.”

If you have any information call police via 101 or alternatively report via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or Fearless.org where anonymity can be maintained.
