It's a special year for 2nd Airdrie Boys’ Brigade Company as they celebrate their centenary.
The company, based at New Wellwynd Church in Airdrie, will mark their momentous milestone with a special church service on Thursday, May 5, at 7pm.
The service will be led by Lord Wallace, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, as well as their own minister, Reverend Robbie Hamilton who will also be in attendance.
And it will be also be streamed live via the New Wellwynd Church website and Facebook page.
As well as many personalised invitations to prominent Lanarkshire dignitaries, the Company will be inviting all former boys, officers and friends from across Lanarkshire to join them to mark this special occasion.
Lieutenant and treasurer, Lesley Aitken, told Lanarkshire Live : “The service is the main thing.
"Our centenary year started last September.
“We have already had a civic reception for officers with the Provost last May.
“This is our big awards where the boys will be getting their centenary badge.”
During the service they will also be showing video footage on the illustrious history of their Company dating back to around 70 to 80 years.
The Company marked their 100th anniversary with a sparkling civic reception with North Lanarkshire Provost Jean Jones in May last year.
“We are very proud of our service as we have had 100 continuous years of 2nd Airdrie working with thousands of young boys and men over these years as well as countless officers,” Lesley told us.
