A talented Uddingston baker putt her baking talents to good use recently, when she created an amazing cake version of the Claret Jug for the 150th Open Championship in St Andrews.
Jacqueline Evans, who works as an occupational therapist for adults with learning disabilities in North Lanarkshire, was given the idea to create the cake by one of her patients, after she found out she had secured tickets for the huge sporting event.
The Bellshill Golf Club member told Lanarkshire Live: "I've been baking for around 30 years; I've done some quite big pieces for family and friends I really enjoy it.
"When I found out I had got tickets for the Open I told one of my patients who said I should make them a birthday cake. So I thought I would give it a go."
It took Jacqueline weeks of hard work completing the amazing cake but it all paid off when the director of golf development for the R&A got in touch to thank her for her efforts and asked her to come along and meet them for photographs.
Jacqueline, who used to be an art teacher, said: "I had an amazing day on Saturday and lots of spectators and punters came up asking to have their photograph taken with it. One gentleman picked it up by the handle, think he thought it was a plastic replica trophy, our hearts were in our mouths.
"It was later cut up for all to be enjoyed and I got good feedback too that it tasted nice. After all it's a cake and there to be enjoyed and eaten."
The 150th Open concluded yesterday with 28-year-old Australian, Cameron Smith, putting his way to victory and having his name engraved on the famous Claret Jug.
