We are just a week away from the local elections in Scotland, with many seeing how we vote for our councils as an indication of the political playing field for Holyrood.
And there’s plenty going on in the background to give food for thought for the electorate.
There’s the lingering disquiet about ‘partygate,’ the cost of living crisis coupled with the impact of Brexit, and the small matter of an escalating and tragic war in Ukraine.
Closer to home, there’s the new ships for Caledonian MacBrayne scandal, the stance of Scottish Conservatives when it comes to their law-breaking boss and Prime Minister, and a Labour Party that has failed to deliver a viable opposition to the SNP.
All of which is coupled with an ongoing pandemic and growing global climate crisis.
So there’s plenty to think about before voting, and plenty of expectations on the shoulders of our politicians and would-be councillors.

But before we go to the polls, we wanted to know what are the key issues and factors for you when marking X on your ballot paper?
We’ve included a quick survey to find out whether you are likely to vote at all on May 5; what you consider to be the main issues for your area; and whether the national political landscape impacts on how you vote locally?
We’d love to know what you think.
