Six Lanark Amateur Swimming Club swimmers took an impressive haul of medals from Grangemouth ASC’s annual MAGS meet last weekend.
Once again the star swimmer was Evi Mackie, who won all her six events in the 12/13 years age group.
Her standout swim was a time of 1.08.87 in the 100m butterfly, and Evi’s performance won her the top girl’s award in her age group.
In the 11 years and under group, Emily Taylor won the 100m butterfly and 100m backstroke, and was third in 100m and 200m freestyle.
Erin Purdon was third in 100m breaststroke, as was Imogen Siebers in the 100m butterfly.
In the 12/13 years age group, Orlaith Jeffrey posted four personal best times, and Lucy Taylor three.
After the two-session meet, coach Karen Kelly said: “The competition was a huge learning curve for the swimmers, with three swims each session and no swim down facility.
“There is always something you can learn and take on board from a competition like this.”
Next weekend the club are back at Tollcross for a West District Long Course Championship and their swimmers also have the North Ayrshire 200 meet to look forward to, which is being held in Irvine on February 25/26.
