Giano Taurino/Ernie Francis are the 2024 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America champions, thanks to the podium achieved in an exciting Race 2 that took place at Jerez.
With temperatures on the rise thanks to the sun shining over Andalusia, the TR3 Racing pair administered their race with intelligence and perfection, staying out of trouble while the others were jostling amongst themselves and pushing for the win.
Edoardo Liberati started strongly from pole position followed by Francis and Ryan Norman, but in the middle of the group there were immediate sparks with hoods flying off due to contacts involving John Capestro Dubets and Tyler Hoffmann, while on turn 3 Kevin Madsen flew into the gravel, getting stuck and bringing out the first Safety Car.
Restart on lap 4, but again on lap 9 the intervention of the Safety Car was necessary due to a spin by Anthony Bullock, just before the pit window opened. This saw Liberati's advantage narrowed down, and he waited until the end before handing over to his teammate Alberto Clementi Pisani, who remained the leader of the PRO/AM Class, but dropped to sixth in the order.
Up front, Taurino had no interest in holding off his rivals, also considering the 16-point margin that he and his colleague had over Formal/Norman; for this reason, on lap 17 he gave way to the WTR Andretti ST, and then did the same with his teammate Elias De La Torre, promoting him to second place.
With the podium, the PRO title arrived for the TR3 duo, while the ANSA Motorsport drivers, Jamin/Porto and Cabirou/Morris, also finished in the Top 5.
Clementi Pisani/Liberati finished sixth overall and won the PRO/AM class, beating Miller/Nemschoff (Flying Lizards) by 0.1s, with Berkeley/Lagartixa (Alliance Racing) slightly further behind and completing the podium in the category.
The title of this grouping was obtained by Joel Miller/AJ Muss, who finished in 11th place overall, right behind their fierce rivals Stacy/Persing (WTR Andretti).
In the AM class, the Huracan of WTR Andretti won in the hands of the new champions McIntosh/McGee, well ahead of Schirripa/Kleck (Alliance Racing) and Garrett Adams (Ansa).
In the Lamborghini Cup, Nicholas Groat (One Motorsports) took an easy victory, concluding a season that saw him become the category champion with a wide margin. Jonathan Hirshberg (Forte Racing) also made it onto the podium.
