Even for NBA teams that didn’t make the playoffs, such as the Los Angeles Lakers, this is a busy time of year.
They are busy scouting potential draft prospects while finalizing their offseason plans when it comes to trades and free agency decisions.
Although members of an NBA team’s front office are not allowed to talk publicly about or to players who are currently under contract with another team, they can simply talk to members of another team’s front office.
That is exactly what one of the most important members of the Lakers front office did recently at the NBA Combine.
Via Lakers Daily:
“One reported meeting that is sure to create a lot of chatter took place recently between Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks and Los Angeles Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka.”
Nets GM Sean Marks and Lakers exec Rob Pelinka had a meeting at the Marriot Marquis this week at the NBA Combine.
Unclear what they discussed. Potential trade? Dinner plans? Comparing superstar headaches?

Was Pelinka perhaps asking Marks about former Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson, who is reportedly a candidate for the Lakers’ coaching job?
Maybe Pelinka was discussing bringing Nets star Kyrie Irving to the Lakers? A few years back, Pelinka was assessed a huge fine by the NBA for talking to representatives for Paul George when he was not allowed to, back when George was still with the Indiana Pacers.
Perhaps this is all much ado about nothing.
