Last Friday, Anthony Davis suffered a foot injury early in the Los Angeles Lakers’ contest against the Denver Nuggets.
He sat out the second half of the game, and somehow the Lakers routed one of the Western Conference’s best teams, 126-108.
Since then, there had been no updates on Davis’ condition, other than one report by Shams Charania of The Athletic who said the team expects Davis to be out for at least a month.
The superstar big man was seen traveling with the team and sitting on the bench without any type of boot or cast on his injured foot, which made the situation seem strange.
Now, the Lakers have issued an update on him.
Update on Anthony Davis:
“After extensive consultation with Lakers team physicians and outside specialists, it has been determined that Anthony Davis has a stress injury in his right foot. Davis will be out indefinitely. Further updates will be provided when appropriate.”

Stress injuries can be tricky to predict as far as a timetable, depending on the bone involved and the severity.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted a piece of hopeful news as far as a possible timetable.
ESPN Sources: The pain has subsided in past several days in Anthony Davis' foot and he's expected to rest it for another 7-to-10 days and have it re-evaluated and see if he can return to play. For now, there's hope that a procedure can be avoided. https://t.co/4B2RXiAZTV

Although the Lakers will still be without the man who looked like the best player in the NBA for a month prior to his injury, perhaps he will not miss too much time.
Good news for the Lakers?
Given Davis’ injury history, it’s understandable fans may be expecting him to miss much more than an additional 7-10 more days.
Last season, he missed 42 games with an MCL sprain and a foot injury. The year prior to that, he was out for 36 contests because of a calf strain and Achilles tendonosis.
But Dr. Rajpal Brar, a doctor of physical therapy who often breaks down Lakers injuries on social media, tweeted that this diagnosis is actually good news for Davis.
This is good news overall. It’s an overload injury. Hence you reduce that load, re-evaluate based after a set period of time and then go from there. Makes sense why nothing showed up on imaging.

Los Angeles’ schedule will be relatively manageable until the final days of January, although it does have a five-game road trip starting on Christmas Day. This will give it an opportunity to rack up wins without Davis if everyone bands together and adopts a positive mindset.
