The Los Angeles Lakers have been known for decades for sporting the colors purple and gold on their uniforms. Their team colors and logo were originally designed under the guidance of former owner Jack Kent Cooke in the late 1960s, and their uniforms have only undergone minor changes ever since then.
In recent years, Nike, which produces uniforms for all 30 of the NBA’s teams, has had a City Edition uniform that deviates from the standard home and road uniforms that each squad wears. The Lakers have had some interesting City Edition jerseys over the last few years, some of which have been pretty aesthetically pleasing.
Their City Edition jerseys have apparently been leaked for the 2023-24 season, and at best, they feature an uninspired design. No official word has come out about these threads, but it looks like the team will wear them this season.
Rumor: The Lakers “City Edition” jerseys have reportedly been leaked.

Black has never been one of the Lakers’ team colors, yet this uniform has black as its primary hue. Some may like the use of black as the main background color, but purists will assert that it looks out of place for the franchise.
It has been bad enough that over the last few years, the Lakers’ iconic shade of gold has turned into a bright yellow. Perhaps fans should expect each year’s City Edition uniforms to be underwhelming if nothing else than to protect themselves from being disappointed.
