Lakeland shoppers praise 'life-saver' heated airer that dries clothes and keeps you warm for 10p an hour

Lakeland shoppers have branded a heated airer available exclusively from the retailer a "game changer" as they rush to snap it up as a cheaper alternative to using a tumble dryer.

The Dry:Soon Deluxe 3-Tier Heated Airer, which comes equipped with a timer, promises to dry laundry "much more quickly" than an unheated airer, and holds up to 15kg of washing with 21 metres of drying space. The airer requires a significant upfront cost with price tag of £199.99, but costs just 10p per hour to run - and it could even help to cut down on your heating bills.

A review of the product by the Manchester Evening News found that the airer also worked to heat up the room it was placed in, meaning that it may save you from having to turn the radiator on when in use if you set it up in a room you spend a lot of time in. Alternatively, a cover is also available to buy for the airer for £44.99 which traps the heat in and helps to speed up the drying time for your clothes.

Satisfied shoppers said they wished they had bought the heated airer sooner (Manchester Family / MEN)

The MEN reviewer added: "I'd say the real beauty of this particular model is definitely its size, especially when you've got a family-load or loads to get dry, with school uniforms, sports kits and whatever else they've decided to stick in the wash after a couple of hours' wear. But it's light enough to move around to wherever you want to use it when not in use it folds away neatly, with the cover turning into a storage bag."

Other shoppers who had bought the heated airer were similarly impressed, with the product racking up over 200 five-star reviews on the Lakeland website. One person wrote: "Easy to use and very effective. Six hours seems to dry almost everything and it's so much cheaper to run than the tumble drier."

Another said: "This product has been a life saver in these wet and cold days. It is quite large so space is needed and ventilation of the space is necessary. The cover, although an optional extra, speeds the drying or airing up. Great product. The radiators can now do their job since they are not covered with clothes."

"This has been a fantastic alternative to drying clothes indoors without breaking the bank," a third shopper commented. "It does take time to dry clothing but it is pennies to run. Highly recommend - wish I got this sooner it's been a game changer for my large family. Very happy indeed."
