A man aged in his 70s from Lake Macquarie is among the 13 people who died with COVID-19 across NSW in the 24 hours to 4pm on Thursday, the latest data shows.
The Hunter New England local health district recorded 2105 new cases of the virus during the period, down from 2417 the previous day.
Of the new cases, 1287 were detected by rapid antigen tests and 818 by PCR tests.
There are 98 people with COVID-19 in Hunter New England hospitals - two of those are receiving intensive care.
It came as NSW recorded 15,283 fresh instances of coronavirus in the 24-hour period.
There are 1632 people with the virus in hospital across the state, including 63 patients in intensive care units - 18 of those require ventilation.
