Laila Rouass jokes Wagatha Christie 'nothing' compared to Footballers' Wives drama

Laila Rouass poked fun at the Wagatha Christie court case as she teased a possible Footballers' Wives reboot.

The actress starred as Amber Gates in the popular drama show, which followed the lives of a fictitious Premier League football team and their wives, for two years between 2004 and 2006.

It was full of the most dramatic storylines including Frank's revenge from beyond the grave - and who can forget Tanya's baby swap drama which saw her steal her rival Amber's baby?

And as she addressed the possibility of a Footballers' Wives reboot, she made a quip at the expense of Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy as the WAGs continue to fight it out in an ongoing legal battle.

Steph's Packed Lunch host Steph McGovern asked Laila about the possibility of the popular drama show returning, as she quipped: "With everything going on at the minute with Wagatha Christie..."

It was then that actress Laila made a cheeky dig at the real-life in court drama, as she added: "Oh that’s nothing. On Footballers' Wives, we wouldn’t be going to court. We’d be pulling each other's hair extensions out."

Laila also said she felt like it would be a "great time" to bring the drama series back for a reboot.

Meanwhile, Laila previously insisted she would go back for another series of the show.

"I do [miss it] sometimes," she said, "I think I would [go back]. If it was as good as it was when we were in it, yes. I loved when we went to Thailand. That was really good fun – that was my first episode. We had a really good time, it was very, very glamorous."

She is not the only actor from the show to admit they would love to see it on screens again.

"It was outrageous and a fantastic thing to be a part of, so a reunion may be on the cards – you'll have to wait and see," Gary Lucy - who played Kyle Pascoe in the drama - shared a few years back.

Zoe Lucker, who starred as Tanya Turner on the show, recently recalled her favourite moment from filming - when her character put fake tan on a baby after stealing it from Amber.

"I very inappropriately put fake tan on her baby after stealing the baby and swapping it," she remembered as she picked out the most outrageous storyline, "So we did that, but unfortunately my real baby got squished by her pug."
