Lady Gaga Defends Dylan Mulvaney Against Transphobic Backlash On Instagram

lady gaga

Lady Gaga recently took a stand against the backlash faced by Dylan Mulvaney, a 27-year-old individual who received negative comments after sharing photos and videos with Gaga on International Women’s Day. In response to the anti-trans comments directed at Mulvaney, Gaga posted a photo of the two together, condemning the hatred and violence being spread.

Gaga emphasized that the derogatory remarks were not mere 'backlash' but rather a manifestation of deep-seated hatred. She expressed her support for Mulvaney and the transgender community, highlighting the need for society to embrace and respect transgender lives.

While acknowledging that she cannot speak for the trans community as a cis-gendered woman, Gaga stressed the importance of unity and equality for all individuals, regardless of gender identity or race. She called for a world where love and acceptance prevail, rejecting intolerance in any form.

Throughout her career, Gaga has been a vocal advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, recognizing her moral obligation to defend and uplift her fan base. Mulvaney, on the other hand, faced online backlash following a sponsored TikTok post for Bud Light during March Madness 2023.

In a subsequent Instagram video, Mulvaney expressed feeling abandoned by Anheuser Busch in the face of bullying and transphobia. She criticized the brand for not publicly supporting her and allowing transphobic behavior to go unchecked among customers.

Mulvaney argued that a company hiring a trans individual without standing by them publicly sends a harmful message, exacerbating the challenges faced by transgender individuals. Anheuser Busch's CEO addressed the negative reaction to the ad, stating that the brand did not intend to contribute to divisive discussions.
