Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars recently released their much-anticipated duet, “Die With a Smile,” which marks Gaga's first single in two years. The mid-tempo love song features heartfelt lyrics such as “If the world was ending / I’d wanna be next to you” and “I wanna hold you just for a while / And die with a smile.” The Grammy winners also unveiled a music video for the single on August 15.
Prior to the release, Gaga teased the collaboration on social media, hinting at her upcoming album, tentatively titled LG7. The promotional photo showcased both artists in country-inspired attire, with Gaga donning a vibrant blue dress and Mars in a matching blue suit with embroidered details.
This collaboration marks Mars' first duet with Gaga and his first single since 2022's “After Last Night” with Anderson .Paak. Despite the hiatus in new music, Mars has been actively touring internationally and in the U.S., with upcoming shows in California, Las Vegas, and Taiwan.
On the other hand, Gaga's last solo release was in 2022 with “Hold My Hand” from the Top Gun: Maverick soundtrack. She has been working on the musical drama Joker: Folie à Deux, where she portrays Harley Quinn alongside Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker. The movie is set to hit theaters in October.
While fans eagerly await Gaga's next album, she confirmed in March that she is working on new music. Her previous solo album, Chromatica, was released in 2020, followed by Love for Sale with Tony Bennett in 2021.
Gaga expressed her gratitude for her personal life and music career on social media, stating, “I am in love with my best friend, my family and friends are loving and kind and healthy. I feel like my heart is bursting with gratitude for my own health and music.”
Despite fans' anticipation for LG7, Gaga playfully dismissed requests for new music during a show in Las Vegas, teasingly responding, “Not tonight!”
