SNP Westminster Leader Stephen Flynn has taken aim at the Labour Party over energy bill price increases announced by Ofgem.
Energy bills for millions of Scottish households will increase from April 1 when Ofgem increases its price cap for a third consecutive quarter.
The regulator said the increase of 6.4%, which will raise the average bill for households in Scotland on a standard variable tariff from the current £1738 a year to £1849, follows a spike in wholesale prices.
The rise will equate to £111 for an average household per year, or around £9.25 a month, over the three-month period of the price cap, 9.4% or £159 higher than this time last year but £531.
Taking to Twitter/X, Flynn said “Labour lied, didn’t they?” reposting a BBC headline going over the bill hikes.
During the election, Labour pledged they would cut household energy bills by £300, but instead, customers have seen bills rise by £170 since last July.

Last month, in his first major broadcast interview, GB energy boss Juergen Maier could not say when the Labour Government's £300 energy bill pledge would be met.
When questioned by Sky, "you surely have an idea in your head of when that central pledge to the people, of reducing their bills by £300, will come into action?" Maier said "it's not in the remit of Great British Energy".
During the same interview the GB Energy boss said the party's General Election pledge of 1000 jobs for Aberdeen could take 20 years, which drew ire from Flynn.
He said it was "yet another broken promise” and challenged Keir Starmer to "come clean over why he is failing to deliver the promises he made at the election – and admit whether these pledges are being kicked into the long grass”.
