SCOTTISH Labour have held a seat on West Dunbartonshire Council after winning a by-election.
The party’s candidate, William Rooney, won the Kilpatrick by-election which was held after Douglas McAllister stepped down to become the MP for West Dunbartonshire.
The voting turnout, much like by-elections in Glasgow last week, was low with 19.2% of people heading to the polls – 1705 out of the eligible 8879 voters.

Labour won the contest at stage six with 814 votes while the SNP finished second with 564 and Reform UK in third on 200.
We told last week how polling expert John Curtice said the figures behind the by-election wins in Glasgow for Labour last week represented “poor results” as the numbers showed a drop in support.
According to figures from Ballot Box Scotland, Labour’s first preference support dropped by 13.4% when compared with figures from 2022.
