Labor's Brent Potter has drawn top spot on the ballot paper for the Fannie Bay by-election in the Northern Territory.
Mr Potter was drawn at the head of the ticket on Thursday with his main rival, Country Liberal Party candidate Ben Hosking, placed last among the six candidates.
Three independents will also contest the August 20 poll, George Mamouzellos, Raj Samson Rajwin, and Leah Potter, along with Greens candidate Jonathan Parry.
The by-election was triggered by the resignation of former chief minister Michael Gunner.
Mr Gunner stepped down as chief minister in May, and resigned as the local member last month.
He first won the seat in 2008 and was returned by a margin of more than 800 votes at the 2020 Territory poll.
About 5400 people are enrolled to vote in Fannie Bay with early ballots to be cast from Monday.
Mr Potter is an army veteran and father of four who has most recently worked as a government adviser.
Mr Hosking is a small business owner and former police officer.
