LA County Sheriff's Deputy Shot In Back, Suspect At Large

Crime Scene Banner Picture.

Authorities are actively searching for the individual responsible for shooting a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department motorcycle deputy in the back while he was stopped at a red light. The incident occurred near Interstate 10 at the intersection of North Barranca Street and East Garvey Avenue. Fortunately, Deputy Samuel Aispuro, 43, was wearing a bulletproof vest at the time, which ultimately saved his life.

Deputy Aispuro, who was in uniform and riding a department-issued motorcycle, was rushed to a medical center for treatment following the shooting. Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna emphasized the seriousness of the situation during a press conference, urging the public to assist in locating the armed suspect.

Law enforcement officials are currently on the lookout for a white sedan with tinted windows that was last seen heading west on Interstate 10 from Barranca Street. Despite detaining individuals from a home in La Puente shortly after the incident, they were later released as they may not have been involved.

Deputy Aispuro, a dedicated member of the LASD for nearly two decades, is married with two young children. He is currently listed in stable condition as the investigation into the shooting continues. Sheriff Luna has called on anyone who was in the vicinity of the West Covina intersection at the time of the shooting to come forward with any information that may aid in the case.

As the search for the suspect intensifies, Luna stressed the importance of community cooperation, stating, 'You are our eyes and ears out there. That’s why we need information coming forward, so we can look at every angle. Our intent is we’re going to catch them, but we need your help.'
