NFL coaches and executives may not view Kyren Williams as one of the league’s best running backs, but his peers seem to think he is.
NFL Network is revealing its Top 100 Players for 2024 and Williams was voted to the list by his peers. Williams came in at No. 78, his first career appearance in the top 100. The full list hasn’t been revealed yet so it’s hard to know where he ranks among other running backs, but he’s probably near the top.
Williams is coming off a fantastic 2023 season, his first year as a starter. He rushed for 1,144 yards on only 228 carries, averaging a league-best 95.3 yards per game. He also scored 12 touchdowns on the ground and three as a receiver, earning Pro Bowl honors and second-team All-Pro recognition.
What makes Williams’ rise so surprising is the fact that he was a fifth-round pick in 2022 and barely played as a rookie. But last season, after overtaking Cam Akers as the starter, he broke out in a big way and looked like one of the best backs in football – particularly as the season went on.
